Victorinox SwissFlame:
Making fire with a "pocket knife"
Victorinox gets really fired up when it comes to turning
new ideas into reality. And this is particularly true of
the new pocket tool, which really does have fire in it!
A shiny silver gas lighter has been built into the
pocket knife between the blades and the tools. There are
times when you won’t want to be without this new tool –
camping, barbecueing, hiking or DIY, for example. And,
as with all multitools, the SwissFlame’s range of uses
is more or less unlimited.
How does the pocket lighter work?
The blue laser flame is activated using the handy
trigger mechanism on the top of the pocket knife. The
heat is very concentrated and kindling is swift.
The ignition mechanism is based on tried-and-tested
piezo technology.
The tank needs to be filled with premium-grade butane
gas to ensure that the lighter works properly. The fuel
level can be checked through the viewing window in the
tank.
There is one limitation to bear in mind: Lighters with
the preferred turbo laser flame and piezo technology may
not operate properly at altitudes greater than approx.
1500 m above sea level.
The "SwissFlame” No. 1.3705.FT offers a further 17
useful functions:
Large and small blades, corkscrew, tin-opener with small
screwdriver (also suitable for Phillips 1–2), cap opener
with 6 mm screwdriver, wire stripper, reamer, punch, key
ring, tweezers, toothpick, scissors, multi-purpose hook,
ballpoint pen, pin (stainless steel) and
mini-screwdriver. Weight: 141 grammes.
Art. No. 1.3615.FT CampFlame – has the same functions,
but with a wood saw and fine 3 mm screwdriver (instead
of scissors and multi-purpose hook).
Weight: Only 134 grammes, despite its 18 useful
functions.
